Reasons to make a ‘no bid’ decision

Too many company bid decisions are based on emotions, lack of marketing information and insufficient discussion.

This wastes valuable resources and discourages company employees. Here are some reasons the decision not to bid should be considered:

  • Bid and proposal funds are not available to pursue the bid
  • Key teammates are not available
  • The product or solution does not meet the client’s requirements
  • Required capabilities or skills are absent
  • Your company is too late in the game
  • Key client relationships have not been established
  • Your competitive position is weak
  • You have a limited knowledge of the procurement
  • Required key personnel candidates have not been identified
  • Your proposal resources are insufficient
  • A strongly positioned low cost bidder emerges
  • The contract terms & conditions in the request for proposal or quote are unacceptable
